The inventors of the bikini were two Frenchmen - Jacques Heim and Louis Reid. Heim is a female costume designer from Cannes, France. She designed a small swimsuit and named it "Atome". She hired a plane that was writing in the air to advertise her design. The plane wrote in the air: "Atome - the world's smallest swimwear." Three weeks later, mechanical engineer Reid also used the plane in the air. Written: "Bikini - smaller than the world's smallest swimsuit!"
